For the launch of the Rafa Nadal Museum, we developed a full campaign spanning creative direction, production, photography, VFX and post-production. The project centered around building a visual narrative capable of connecting Rafa Nadal’s legacy with the opening of a new space dedicated to his career and achievements.
The goal of the campaign was to transform the museum launch into something beyond a simple announcement. Instead of focusing only on the physical space, the piece aimed to revisit the journey behind it, connecting Rafa’s present with the ambition, discipline and milestones that shaped his career.
The production took place in Mallorca, where the entire campaign had to be executed within an extremely limited timeframe. With approximately one and a half hours available with Rafa Nadal, the shoot was carefully structured to capture both the main film sequences and the photography packages required for the campaign. Every setup, lighting change and camera movement had to be pre-planned in advance in order to maximize efficiency without compromising the visual ambition of the project.
The final shot of the film became one of the most technically demanding parts of the campaign. As the tennis ball travels across the court, it moves through a three-dimensional composition built from Rafa Nadal’s achievements and personal symbols: tournament trophies, iconic accessories, rackets and recognizable elements from his career. Many of these trophies had to be researched, sourced and rebuilt as accurate 3D assets, while others required complete reconstruction from scratch, including modeling, texturing, shading and lighting.
The campaign extended far beyond the hero film itself. In addition to the central VFX sequence, the project included four separate VFX-driven capsules designed to support the launch across digital platforms and social media. AI-based face replacement workflows were also integrated into specific scenes and photography assets in order to seamlessly combine younger and present-day versions of Rafa Nadal.
As part of the teaser phase, we also developed a series of Fake Out Of Home pieces combining CGI and real environments across Mallorca. The concept focused on integrating symbolic elements from Rafa Nadal’s career into recognizable locations around the island, creating the illusion of large-scale installations interacting with the physical world. Through compositing, tracking and environmental lighting work, trophies and iconic objects became part of the urban and architectural landscape, generating a series of highly shareable pieces designed to build anticipation ahead of the museum opening.
